Day 29: I think a car prevents outdoors time

Day 29: I think a car prevents outdoors time

Good morning Challengers, second last day today. I think we all deserve a pat on the back for making it through another February without succumbing to cabin fever.

Yesterday I took a long walk down into the Junction, signed up for the Articulations sketch book challenge, said hi to Barbara at Snug As A Bug, stopped and refilled my favourite body butter at the Pretty Clean Shop, and then got Pho, at Pho Huong. Of course I stopped in to say hi to my photographer friend at Phillipa C Photography on my way and even popped in to Beau and Bauble. A pretty full afternoon.
Perhaps the reason I made so many stops was because now I have a car, I don't make that walk as often. I think this time last year, I was walking down to the Junction 3 times a week.

Of course having a car has enabled me to do lots of different outdoorsy things like skiing every week, and skating all over the city, but there is something peaceful about having to stay in your own neighbourhood and make do.
I think I've been missing that.

So sending out some neighbourhood love today on this leap year February 29th.

Until tomorrow, have an outdoorsy day.

Your photo prompt-show me your neighbourhood.

I would like to talk about something I witnessed in town over the last several weeks. As I mentioned previously, we had a Polar Vortex. It was too cold to walk to the grocery store, let alone just sit outside all day. Which is what a member of this town had been doing for months.

My Winter Walks
My Winter Walks

I am just back from a walk along the country road where I live, a road bordered by fields and stands of trees. My intention was to get some exercise, which meant covering some distance at a reasonable pace. My intention is important, as it affects many other choices: type of shoes, clothing, walking poles, water, binoculars, camera etc.

Good For You Momma
Good For You Momma

After stopping for the dogs to poop and stopping to change Jett’s diaper (twice) we were off!! We walked through a sunny meadow, climbed up the frozen cascades and returned via a side trail that skirted the riverbank. Bliss.
