Day Six: You think you're too busy?

Day Six: You think you're too busy?

Good morning Challengers.
Mondays are my busy day, but this week I kept true to the challenge and spent time outdoors at the ski hill-not much of a chore, it's so beautiful there.

We ski every Monday with a homeschool group, and usually I work at the chalet while Bobby and his friend ski. Yesterday was a big day for Bobby-he passed his blue stripe test, which he's been working on for the last few weeks, so we're super proud of him for that.

Another cool thing about homeschool skiing is meeting new people. One new friend I made is Anne. I have a special affinity for Anne, because she has 7 (yes 7) kids, and being a 7th child myself, I feel a sense of comraderie. It's not just Anne's family size that I admire though, it's her quiet calm, her kindness towards everyone including her children, and one week when I was in charge of signing out the ski rentals, who do you think was first in line? Yup, Anne and her children.

This week Anne's second youngest decided she would try skiing, so Anne put the baby in the back carrier and gave the little three year old her first skiing lesson; pulling her back and forth by her poles.

I'm going to think of Anne this month when I feel like I'm too busy to make time for the outdoors and give myself a little perspective on actual busyness.

Today's photo challenge is to take a picture of someone you admire...if you're both outdoors: bonus points.

Until tomorrow, have an outdoorsy day.

I would like to talk about something I witnessed in town over the last several weeks. As I mentioned previously, we had a Polar Vortex. It was too cold to walk to the grocery store, let alone just sit outside all day. Which is what a member of this town had been doing for months.

My Winter Walks
My Winter Walks

I am just back from a walk along the country road where I live, a road bordered by fields and stands of trees. My intention was to get some exercise, which meant covering some distance at a reasonable pace. My intention is important, as it affects many other choices: type of shoes, clothing, walking poles, water, binoculars, camera etc.

Good For You Momma
Good For You Momma

After stopping for the dogs to poop and stopping to change Jett’s diaper (twice) we were off!! We walked through a sunny meadow, climbed up the frozen cascades and returned via a side trail that skirted the riverbank. Bliss.
