Day Two: Toronto has so many amazing places to discover

Day Two: Toronto has so many amazing places to discover

Good morning Challengers.

Last night I poled everyone in my house on what their favourite winter outdoor activities are; here are their answers:
Thom: go play shinny, go for a skate
Bobby: skiing and tobogganing
Robyn: I like to go walking and I like to go skating.
Me: hockey and walking with my friends

Robyn and her boyfriend are great hikers, and often on Alex's day off they go for a long hike. Last week they rented bikes and biked the Tommy Thompson trail (which is at the bottom of Leslie street)

In fact Tommy Thompson Park is known as Toronto's Urban Wilderness. Here's a link to their website which will surprise you with all the amazing things going on.

There are amazing hidden gems all over this great city, and this time in the challenge we're going to share a few of them.

I have an extra challenge for you today: Over then next week, pick a place you always thought would be nice to go, and make a plan to go there. As an example, I always wanted to skate on the Bentway, so last year I called up my friend, and we met up for coffee, and then bussed down Spadina and skated for the afternoon. Where have you thought would be nice to check out, but never got around to doing? Spend some time today and over the week and make a plan.

Today's photo challenge: Take a picture of your front door. Hint: you'll have to be outdoors to do it

Until tomorrow, have an outdoorsy day

Anna

Then, they opened the rink, so after a non-outdoorsy day Saturday, I had triple outdoor time Sunday-balancing it all out in the end.

Day 22: Guest post by Robyn!
Day 22: Guest post by Robyn!

Yesterday reminded me that I don't ALWAYS have to be plugged in, and if I'm listening carefully, there's lots of things to hear. Still not sure if I prefer the sounds of birds and a creek to Bon Jovi, but it's OK to take a little break.
And while I would have loved the company of one of my brothers, or my boyfriend, sometimes doing things by yourself is very nice and relaxing.

Day 21: Old friends
Day 21: Old friends

Every year during the challenge I have a picture of a tree, often I have a picture of this tree. It's so big, I'm not sure the picture does it justice. It's like an old friend. You can see how the lowest branches are perfect for climbing. I'm sure my siblings and I all climbed it in our childhoods playing here in this park.
