Day 30: And we wrap it up for another year

Day 30: And we wrap it up for another year

Good morning Challengers. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have done it again. This was year five for the challenge, and I spoke to my sister yesterday, and she said she appreciates that I don`t call her complaining any more, now I just call her to catch up and chat.

I thought for day 30 I would just post some highlights from this years challenge. Some of the highlights I likely have already forgotten about until I go looking through the picture files.

Skiing definetly took centre stage for us this month, with Bobby working hard to get his blue stripe, he was a pretty proud boy when he showed up at the chalet to show me his tag.

A high point of the month for me was at skiing also, but it was meeting new friends in the chalet that was fun for me. Meeting Anne and her sweet family was a very special and inspiring.

A lot of my outdoors time this month was spent playing hockey. Toronto has more outdoor ice rinks than any city in the world, and I am so grateful. This night with a big snow was so fun, and not because of the hockey, playing in a snow storm is pretty absurd, but good for the laughs.

If I was to make a graph of my outdoor time I`m thinking my next most outdoors times was the same as it is every year because walking with my bestie Cathy hasn't changed. The challenge started with us walking along the lakeshore, and likely today we will walk along there again, just for the full circleness of it all.

Even though February was longer than usual this year, it still felt like it went by faster, maybe it was the warm weather, with yesterday being the coldest day we had. Maybe just the busyness of it, maybe my kids are bigger now, I'm not struggling being shut indoors with Littles. Whichever it was I hope the challenge helped you get through the month too.

Until next year Challengers...have an outdoorsy day.

Anna

I would like to talk about something I witnessed in town over the last several weeks. As I mentioned previously, we had a Polar Vortex. It was too cold to walk to the grocery store, let alone just sit outside all day. Which is what a member of this town had been doing for months.

My Winter Walks
My Winter Walks

I am just back from a walk along the country road where I live, a road bordered by fields and stands of trees. My intention was to get some exercise, which meant covering some distance at a reasonable pace. My intention is important, as it affects many other choices: type of shoes, clothing, walking poles, water, binoculars, camera etc.

Good For You Momma
Good For You Momma

After stopping for the dogs to poop and stopping to change Jett’s diaper (twice) we were off!! We walked through a sunny meadow, climbed up the frozen cascades and returned via a side trail that skirted the riverbank. Bliss.
