Day 12: Looks like we are in for more snow

Day 12: Looks like we are in for more snow

Good morning Challengers. As I write this Monday night, the news is warning of big things happening today. We'll see if it happens or not. The boy and I took another long walk yesterday, and it seemed to me he has gotten a bit better about walking-now that could be the motivation of the destination, or he's getting older, or he had a sugary drink from Tim Hortons and was high on sugar, but really? Does it matter? I was just happy for cheerful company.

As I was walking, I was thinking about winter sports, probably because I was playing hockey Sunday night and was thinking about the women I play hockey with. What I thought was, this is Canada, and if you live here you are going to be living part of (and sometimes much of) your life in a cold snowy climate. Then I thought how outdoor sports during the winter are a sort of social currency. And how skating even if you don't play hockey is a way for kids (and grown ups) to be together doing something.

Tomorrow I'll tell you about friend Jill-Marie who is my special skating friend.

Until tomorrow have an outdoorsy day.

Photo prompt-I think it's time for some dog pictures-what do you think?

I would like to talk about something I witnessed in town over the last several weeks. As I mentioned previously, we had a Polar Vortex. It was too cold to walk to the grocery store, let alone just sit outside all day. Which is what a member of this town had been doing for months.

My intention was to get some exercise, which meant covering some distance at a reasonable pace. My intention is important, as it affects many other choices: type of shoes, clothing, walking poles, water, binoculars, camera etc.

Good For You Momma

After stopping for the dogs to poop and stopping to change Jett’s diaper (twice) we were off!! We walked through a sunny meadow, climbed up the frozen cascades and returned via a side trail that skirted the riverbank. Bliss.
