Day Eight: Fresh Air Can Tire You Out

Day Eight: Fresh Air Can Tire You Out

Good morning Challengers, can you believe it's already day eight?! At least we're finally getting some wintery weather.

I'm writing this post late Friday night because I am playing in an outdoor hockey tournament this weekend, and I have to admit, I'm pretty tired from being outdoors for a couple hours today, but I really really enjoyed it. It was the perfect temperature to be active outdoors.

The tournament is at Dufferin Grove Park, and if you've never been there, I highly encourage you to put it on your to do list of places to see. Along with a full kitchen serving up hot chocolate and other goodies, there's a wood stove, so it always smells so nice. There's something about woodstoves that make a space welcoming.

One thing about a lot of parks that isn't listed in the brochures is if there's an outdoor rink there will be an accompanying pile of snow, and if your Little doesn't love skating, they'll keep themselves busy playing in the snow hill.

snow pile at Dufferin Grove park

The first year we did the challenge we were at my mom's in Dundas, Ontario and there was a huge snow pile in the parking lot of the mall that Bobby played in for as long as I could stand there watching him.

On our street lots of kids play at the end of driveways where people pile there snow, today's photo prompt is to find a nice pile of snow for yourself and your people to climb.

Until tomorrow, have an outdoorsy day...and if you anywhere near Dufferin Grove, stop by and say hi.

Anna

I would like to talk about something I witnessed in town over the last several weeks. As I mentioned previously, we had a Polar Vortex. It was too cold to walk to the grocery store, let alone just sit outside all day. Which is what a member of this town had been doing for months.

My Winter Walks
My Winter Walks

I am just back from a walk along the country road where I live, a road bordered by fields and stands of trees. My intention was to get some exercise, which meant covering some distance at a reasonable pace. My intention is important, as it affects many other choices: type of shoes, clothing, walking poles, water, binoculars, camera etc.

Good For You Momma
Good For You Momma

After stopping for the dogs to poop and stopping to change Jett’s diaper (twice) we were off!! We walked through a sunny meadow, climbed up the frozen cascades and returned via a side trail that skirted the riverbank. Bliss.
