This week Kayleigh shares about Jett's first thanksgiving and creating traditions for her family.
Having a 10 month old baby for this holiday has meant some changes!
First off, I’m so thankful to be sharing in all of this beautiful family time and to have my son experience so many people who love and care for him is a gift I will never be able to replace. Additionally, last minute grocery runs and hours spent in the kitchen need to be coordinated because this 10 month old is on a mission of discovery. I’m especially great full to my mother-in-law who came over three times this week to spare me a minute to prep, peel potatoes and tidy up.
My husband’s parents are separated so that means TWO family dinners. One we will attend and one we will host. With the turkey in the oven we headed for a dog walk. The fall colours were on point!!
Canadian thanksgiving has so many wonderful family based traditions. Creating new traditions and holding on to old ones is all part of it. Some folks are deep-frying, others are smoking the turkey. Friends of ours are doing a brisket; there are no rules! We have been doing a turkey brine for the last few years and would strongly recommend!
*Tip for baby naps during busy holidays:
STROLLER NAP! No safe sleep space required, no sound machine, black out curtains… etc. the fresh air is good for everyone.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
The plan is set up camp on the front lawn, bring the dogs, the baby and the candy all out front. We are going to have a little campfire and camping chairs.
An additional hope that we will be able to connect with more families and parents by being out front.
