Hall Hikes

As a mom who's children are grown, I enjoyed the "Thomas's Snowsuit" factor of Kayleigh's post, and really respect her ingenuity on avoiding a possible wet pants incident. If you're thinking of trying hiking with your Littles, take some tips from Kayleigh and her crew and enjoy the outdoors, where ever that may be.

Hiking with babies and toddlers

Fall is such a stunning season! I feel thankful that I get to enjoy these vibrant colours with my family!

Big Hills Springs Provincial Park 1.4km

Jett has recently mastered using the potty. While very exciting it makes adventures away from home a little more logistically challenging. And on this particular hike we forgot the beloved car potty. So, we stopped before we left the city, we stopped to use the outhouse, but alas, no potty action. Fearing a trail pee in the pants, I took off his pants and the little hiker enjoy a fresh breeze. Don’t worry, his sweater and vest were long enough to keep him covered up.

A little ways down the trail, with a demo from dad, he managed to pee on tree - new outdoor skill unlocked!
The trail was cool in the shade and warm in the sun. The springs were flowing! These springs run all year but usually slow down in the fall. The highlight of the trail for Jett was the little bridges. Cedar enjoyed being along for the ride!

Hello snow!!! While we came with the intention of the Alder Trail. This was a true day of toddler hiking. The parking lot featured puddles - yahoo ! Then we had to turn back to go potty. Then Cedar needed a diaper change. Needless to say we enjoy the parking lot. We did manage to pop down to the river and wander into the forest a bit. Some days just aren’t meant from covering distance. Being in nature is more than enough.

Jett enjoyed brushing the snow off everything he could find. Major cause and effect learning. While Cedar happily bopped along in the carrier. I think she has claimed the hiking carrier and Jett is going to be walk a lot more.
